Mosquitoes in Brookline Test Positive for West Nile Virus; Community Members Urged to Take Precautions
Health Commissioner Sigalle Reiss and the Brookline Department of Public Health report that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health detected West Nile Virus (WNV) in mosquito samples collected in town on Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Omicron Variant Detected in Massachusetts
BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) today announced that genetic sequencing has identified the COVID-19 Omicron variant for the first time in a case in Massachusetts. The individual is a female in her 20s and a resident of Middlesex County who traveled out of state. She is fully vaccinated, has experienced mild disease, and did not require hospitalization. The variant was identified through sequencing performed at New England Biolabs.
Town of Brookline to Follow Commonwealth’s Plan to Rescind Face Cover Order on May 29
The Town of Brookline and Health Commissioner Dr. Swannie Jett announce that, in conjunction with the announcement made yesterday by Gov. Charlie Baker, the Town will be rescinding its face cover order along with the rest of the Commonwealth on Saturday, May 29.
